Utilities: Metadata Push (MDPro)

4min

Metadata Push (or MDPro), is a utility that allows you to manually trigger or schedule metadata updates from SAP to your CMS system based on configured DocManager rules.

There are two way to execute a metadata push:

  1. Directly via the MDPro transaction/menu path and you enter the input criteria to determine what gets pushed
    1. To execute MDPro, enter transaction /dflow/sys and choose the menu path Configure->Execute->Metadata Push.
  2. From a Gimmal Link Enterprise API Gateway results set, and then "loading" MDPro from that result set.

Using the Gimmal Link Enterprise API gateway allows you to use entries in the gateway to populate the input selection screen to MDPro.

If entering MDProd directly, leverage the Link Selection to determine which ArchiveLink link entries MDPro will push metadata for.

Note that all MDPro activity is logged in the Gimmal Link API Gateway.

Link Selection

Use any combination of the standard ArchiveLink link table elements to filter which links you would like to push metadata for

Descriptive Label

Give your "run" a meaningful label. This will assist you in searching the Gimmal Link API Gateway.

View Only

This does not execute the (U)pdate API call to the content repository. It is equivalent to a test run.

Push Metadata

This is an actual run that will update the content repository.

Gateway Update

Setting

Description

Update Existing (Slower)

If there are any previous ERROR entries from (U)pdate for a particular SAP object / Object ID / Archive ID / CMS ID / AR Object unique key in the Gimmal Link API gateway, it will be updated to reflect a success. Therefore, you can report on all ERRORS in the gateway for outstanding errors if desired. There is performance overhead with this option. You can always report (via date or label or other criteria) the MDPro run as an alternative.

No Update (Faster)

This option does not update historical gateway entries.
